Album Artwork

Over the years, being a musician in several bands has allowed me to be creative visually as well as musically. I've had the chance to collaborate on some great music and album art. I've been in charge of art production/direction and designed artwork for most of my bands as well as former bandmates' projects and for other music friends. The album art I've been most proud of were the full length debut CD my previous band Aura put out circa 2006, and multiple albums by the now defunct band Asleep (my dude Jon Dean's previous group). Dean and I collaborated on the elephant for the cover of Asleep's Unpleasant Companion, released in 2011. He insisted the elephant that I painted while I was inebriated (on purpose) captured what was needed. I agree. I've included a few prototypes of how the original elephant evolved in the Unpleasant Companion gallery below.  

Credit where credit is due: Nick Miller is responsible for the entire Alias X Self-titled album design. Nick Miller of Aura helped immensely in getting the album art for the Aura CD right, and of course Chris Ochtyun and his family where integral in making it all happen. A huge thank you to all involved. 

A few side notes: 

For the Unpleasant Companion LP I was not involved in the screen printing for the vinyl. I believe Todd Kaden and/or Larry Serb of Asleep, did all of that. I also did not design the actual record labels/stickers with song titles, again probably Todd or Larry of Asleep.  

For The Mass of Empty Spaces EP, I contributed the photo and front of packaging layout, I think Larry Serb, of Asleep designed the back.

For the All These Things We''ll Never Need LP, I contributed the 24 x 36 inches watercolor painting, working from a photograph by Valerie Bates, which is displayed on disc #2 Endomusia. All other artwork/layout/direction is by Jason Popson, and it looks amazing.

I've included an EP from my former band Alias X Self-titled, and ALL artwork on that album is credited to our lead singer Nick Miller, including the logo.
