In response to not having masks available in the this time of Covid-19 crisis Joanne promptly whipped up several designs using old fabric for us to use when going out. It's the first mask I've ever used without having my glasses fog up which is a real plus, since believe it or not, I need to see where the hell I am going. Each one is equipped with elastic banding and a place to slip in any type of metal wire to clench tightly against the nose. We love the fit and the style. We hate the reason why we are wearing them, but we are trying to be safe and responsible and "flatten the curve."

The pots are made almost entirely of items found on the beaches in Oregon. My wife balked as I loaded bins of mosaic supplies into the cross-country moving truck when Joanne moved here. Told you they would get used! I enjoy looking at them and the placement of big color splashes of glass or ceramic oddities interspersed with shells and sea debris. They make you inspect and contemplate each fragment, each finding its own place to hold the balance from every angle. Each one is a puzzle to make and behold.

Joanne and my wife had a clever idea while we were cleaning up last year's post-Christmas unwrapping mess - why not do away with all of the unnecessary trash we were creating using gift paper to wrap gifts? Joanne started working on crating reusable bags around 6 months prior to Christmas 2019, slowly amassing a pile of various sizes. I'm a last minute person so I thought it was ridiculous, but we had enough for Christmas and then some! She's great at "production-lining" her projects.
I have to say, Christmas 2019 was glorious, in that we had no mess, a very easy cleanup, and tons of bags ready to be stored and reused the following year. The wrapping of gifts which is usually a huge bag of hassles and a very time consuming production, was cut down to around 1/10th of the usual time. I love these bags and the idea behind them. Joanne has now begun fabricating bags for other holidays and everyday gifts. A future plan may be to take commissions to construct them using garments of loved ones that have passed away. I think the idea behind that and the recycle-able bags is wonderful.

Joanne's crochet Scrubbies, Exfoliators, and Soap Cozies make a great gift and work really well on dishes and dead skin. Each have a loop for hanging.

We have a yard full of toads. And every toad needs a home. Some even occupy the highest of offices! Anyway, these are just really fun, and I enjoyed setting them up into a "Toad Town" in the garden. I enjoy the humor and whimsy of them all. Our family had fun over dinner many nights coming up with clever puns and names for them.

My mother-in-law is a crochet wizard! She's humble about it, but she makes several hats per month, amongst making other things, that we then deliver to a local cancer treatment center. They love her hats! She's made tons of things over the years, including a blanket for both my son and I, plus a beautiful top for my wife.
...I still need to hunt a few things down and take some more photos.
