They're just fun. On one of our many family trips to Oregon, visiting my wife's mother Joanne, I painted a slew of rocks. Joanne had her art table set up in the family area and it was nice to just doodle while conversing. One of the best parts of rock painting is that after they are completed they are usually given away. Many are left in public places like parking lots or a parks. One of the best settings for them to be hidden is a playground where children can relish in the joy of discovering one. We are working on a blog or section so that pictures can be loaded (and for visitors to the site to post photos) of rocks that have been left around town, and if they are hidden again, to log the journey they take.
Check out my mother-in-law's painted rocks on her part of this website.
